CHAMBELLAN'S SWORD OF EMPEROR NAPOLEON III, Second Empire. 28073
Gilded bronze frame. Guard richly decorated with foliage in relief, cruise with imperial crown, openwork keyboard with large imperial arms, pommel molded in relief of a trophy of arms and medieval armor. Octagonal wooden rocket with mother-of-pearl plates partitioned between them by thin gilded brass rods.
White triangular blade, placidly engraved on its first third with white and floral decorations, L 78,5 cm.
Black patent leather sheath with two gilded bronze fittings, escapement with raised button for wearing on the belt.

NOTE :
An identical sword having belonged to the second Count of Bassano, second Duke Maret, senator, minister plenipotentiary then grand chamberlain of Napoleon III under the Second Empire. It is listed in the work of Jean LHOSTE "The swords worn in France from the origins to the present day" by Editions du Portail on page 400 under the reference 756.
