DRAGON OFFICER HELMET, model 1872 modified 1874, Third Republic. 27664
Bomb, visor and neck cover in nickel-plated metal. Visor and neck cover lined with a folded brass bangle astride the outer edge, visor lined with green morocco, the neck cover of ocher calfskin. Brass front band stamped with a flaming bomb framed with laurel branches. Brass crest composed of two fins stamped in relief with a series of thirteen decreasing gadroons separated from each other by a sheet of water, each fixed to the bomb by means of four screws. Mask stamped with a palmette in the lower part and a jellyfish head in the upper part. Top of the crest covered with a brass plate imitating the hair of the Medusa head. Mane of black horsehair approximately 85 cm long. Leather chinstraps covered in velvet covered with a series of stamped brass scales cut in the shape of laurel leaves. One-piece upper scales with a round rosette stamped with laurel leaves and attaching to the bomb by means of a lock. Black leather girth and counter girth. Inner headdress in black waxed calfskin gilded with iron and cut into seven wolf teeth.

Bad condition, oxidation and spray dents, gilding of the brass parts missing, feather holder missing, interior cap worn with a missing wolf tooth.
