LES REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK DANS L'ARMÉE FRANÇAISE

LES REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK DANS L'ARMÉE FRANÇAISE

To date, a work presenting a summary of the Remington rifles and rifles purchased in the USA by France was missing. Indeed, I noticed that many amateurs did not know, or had difficulty, identifying the different types of Remington “Rolling-Block” which equipped our armies. The purpose of this book is not to go into the in-depth technical details of the famous “Rolling-Block”; it is simply a matter of introducing the reader to the genesis of this system, the different models of weapons used in France and their history. The ammunition used is also detailed, as well as the bayonets and saber-bayonets associated with the rifles. We called on Remington at two critical periods in our history to replenish our armament, swallowed up in the turmoil of battle. First of all, in 1870, the Ilion firm put the entire production of its factory at the service of France with certainly the most modern rifle of its time, which greatly boosted the morale of the troops. Then in 1914, Remington once again responded to quickly provide us with the additional weapons we needed for those mobilized in the rear.
A long-time collector and passionate about this system, it is with pleasure that I share a lot of information here so that weapon enthusiasts
can discover, through hundreds of photos and archive documents, often unpublished information, both on French prototypes and on rifles, shotguns and carabiners made in America. For each type of weapon, photos and a table of the main characteristics allow you to quickly identify a model you might have in hand.
