FIREFIGHTERS HELMET, Second Republic, Presidency of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, 1848-1852. 24562
Helmet made entirely of brass. Mobile visor stamped in relief of two crossed axes with a flaming bomb framed by oak branches, bordered by a rush folded astride the outer border. Smooth front band and rear band stamped with corollas of foliage. Neck cover circled similarly to the visor. Crest with fin decorated with six gadroons decreasing towards the rear and mask struck in relief with a flaming bomb. Front plate stamped with a flaming bomb shield placed on a radiant sun with oak and laurel branches, axes, city wreath and a ribbon bearing the inscription “Srs POMPIERS”. Plumet holder with square section decreasing slightly towards the bottom. Chinstraps with one-piece chin straps stamped with scalloped scales and round rosettes stamped in relief with gadroons. Black hair caterpillar.
