HELMET OF FIREFIGHTERS OF THE COMMUNE OF VILLEMEUX, type 1855, modified 1872, Third Republic. 24242

Entirely in brass, crest stamped with eleven gadroons, front plate struck in relief with a shield stamped with a flaming bomb. This shield is on a sandblasted base plate with laurel branches and crossed axes. Ribbon bearing the inscription “Srs POMPIERS DE VILLEMEUX”. Visor and neck cover surrounded by a folded brass bangle astride the outer edge. Chinstraps composed of a chin strap in soft leather covered in black velvet covered with a series of decreasing scales cut alternately into two and three festoons, round rosettes stamped with circular moldings. Tubular plume holder with square section decreasing downwards.

Bad condition, missing interior headdress, bomb and crest with dents and accidents, leather of the chinstraps restored, internal nuts on the bomb holding the rear chin straps, fixing of the crest by welded brads.
