HELMET OF FIREFIGHTERS OF THE COMMUNE OF SECONDIGNY, type 1855, modified 1872, Third Republic. 24240

Entirely in brass, crest stamped with eleven gadroons, front plate struck in relief with a shield stamped with a flaming bomb. This shield is on a radiant base plate with oak and laurel branches and crossed axes. Ribbon bearing the inscription “SAPEURS POMPIERS DE SECONDIGNY”. Visor and neck cover surrounded by a folded brass bangle astride the outer edge. Chinstraps composed of a chin strap in soft leather covered in black velvet covered with a series of decreasing scales cut alternately into two and three festoons, round rosettes stamped with circular moldings. Tubular plume holder with square section decreasing downwards.
