Brass frame. Two-pronged guard. Cast brass handle, fluted with twenty strands. Curved blade with hollow sides in the Montmorency style, length 55.5 cm, width at the heel 6 cm; it is engraved with military trophies, floral decorations with fleur de lys, heel with cartridge engraved with floral decorations. Scarlet cloth tie.

Good condition, blade with oxidation from use, end of the tip broken. Without sheath.
NOTE :
This type of saber was used from the end of the reign of Louis XVI until the beginning of the First Empire in 1804. It is a model inspired by that of general officers from 1788 to 1793. A similar example is presented in the work of Michel Pétard “Sabers and swords”, volume 3, figure 338, page 130, just like in the work of Admiral Eric Scherer “Les Marins Français 1789 - 1830” page 70.
