COURIER'S MILITARY CROSSBELT PLATE FOR SENIOR RANK RESPONSIBLE, First Republic. 27232.

Silver-plated bronze oval-shaped plate depicting the Republic holding in one hand the fasces with a Phrygian cap and in the other hand the tables of the law; it is framed by cannons and oak leaf branches on a background of flag fasces. At the top, an eye on a radiant background is depicted, and at the bottom, a ribbon bearing the inscription "COURIER D'ARMEE / GATTEAUX / N.M.". The plate is bordered by a prominent molding. Height 6.5 cm, width 5.6 cm, thickness 4 mm.
The back bears two illegible hallmarks. Plate complete with its four rear fastening studs.
