Round-shaped in silver, engraved by Barre, featuring on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel framed by the legend "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR" and surrounded by a laurel wreath. On the reverse, the inscription "ITALIAN CAMPAIGN - 1859" surrounding the names of the battles "MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO." Diameter 3.03 cm.
Silk ribbon alternating 6 vertical red stripes of 4 mm and 5 vertical white stripes of 2 mm, bordered by a 1 mm white edging. Width 3.6 cm.
Presented in a wooden frame with a domed glass.
