LIGHT INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABER, First Empire. 25852
Silver-plated brass frame. Guard with a faceted branch, oval ear tips. Short-tailed crown with gadrooned pommel called “melon ribs”. Finely squared ebony handle. Curved blade with hollow sides engraved and gilded on its first third with military trophies, a radiant sun, a laurel wreath and floral decorations on a blued background, length 72.5 cm. Natural leather tie. Black patent leather scabbard with two silver-plated brass fittings decorated with lines, scalloped edges. Chaplet with button for wearing on the belt.

Very good condition, brass parts heavily de-silvered but there remain persistent traces which allow the attribution to light infantry, slot at the back of the handle, blade in superb condition having retained all its colors.
