Collection displayed under glass, including:
War Cross 1914-1916, gilt model, suspended from its two-tone ribbon bearing a silver star (citation in the order of the division) and a gilt star (citation in the order of the Army Corps). The lower patée arm of the cross is engraved, on the reverse, "A F" in Cyrillic. The French Interallied Victory Medal (1919) in bronze by C. Charles, suspended from its multicolored ribbon.
Commemorative Medal of the 1914-1918 War (1920) in bronze by Alexandre Morlon, suspended from its two-tone ribbon.
Russian Commemorative Medal for the centenary of the 1812 campaign against Napoleon I's troops, instituted by Emperor Nicholas II on August 12, 1912, in bronze featuring the profile of Alexander I, suspended from its two-tone ribbon mounted "Russian-style."
Fourragère in the colors of the War Cross 1914-1918, the engraved silver ferret bears "STADENBERG - MARQUIVILLERS - OEILLY - MONTVOISIN" and, on the olive, the regiment number 22 and the date 1914. It is arranged around the decorations and a visor plate for an Adrian helmet in brass stamped "SOLDIER OF THE GREAT WAR / 1914-1918" and engraved "NEY DE LA MOSKOWA / CAPTAIN 22nd DRAGOONS."
Oval military identity plate in upper part, in white metal marked "OFFICER / Mr NEY PRINCE / DE LA / MOSKOWA / LÉON NAPOLÉON" and, on the reverse, "BORN IN PARIS / JANUARY 11 / 1870."
The whole set is displayed on an officer's horizon blue cloth, in a mahogany showcase frame (37 x 33 cm) by L. Gouverneur / 37 quai de l'horloge (missing the support easel on the back).

PROVENANCE:
Sale of Marshal Ney's memorabilia, Wednesday, June 20, 2012, Maîtres Binoche et Giquello, Paris Drouot salle 2, lot no. 139, page 141 of the catalog.
By inheritance and descent, the heirs of Laetitia Germaine Marie Agnès Ney d'Elchingen (1940-2005), the only daughter of Michel Georges Napoléon Ney d'Elchingen.
Léon Napoléon Michel Ney (1870-1928), eldest son of the third Duke of Elchingen, fourth Prince of the Moskowa (1884), without descendants. (1905-1969), sixth Prince of the Moskowa (1933).

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Paris on January 11, 1870, Léon Napoléon was the eldest son of Michel Aloÿs Ney, the third Duke of Elchingen, and Paule Heine-Furtado. He volunteered with the 5th Regiment of Dragoons in 1888, moving to the active army reserve in 1893. He became a reserve sub-lieutenant in the 5th Hussars in 1893, and then a lieutenant in 1899. Captain of the reserve at the 22nd Dragoons regiment in 1914. He married Eugénie Laetitia Princess Bonaparte (1872-1949) in Rome on November 23, 1898, and divorced her on December 31, 1903, with no descendants. Napoléon Ney died in Paris on October 21, 1928. Decorations: Knight of the Legion of Honor on July 12, 1917; War Cross.

NOTE:
Army citation on October 27, 1914: "During the night combat at the Steenstraat bridge, 24-25 October, by his calm and firm demeanor, he halted an incipient panic among neighboring troops caused by artillery shelling, and succeeded in leading back to the trenches most of the fleeing soldiers."
