HELMET OF FIREFIGHTERS OF THE IMPERIAL TERRITORY OF ALSACE-LORRAINE, 1871-1919.
Helmet entirely in copper-plated brass. Round bomb, visor and neck cover with protruding edges, crest-shaped crest. Front plate representing a smooth scarlet lacquered shield placed on a coat of arms with oak branches in the lower part. Chinstraps composed of two round brass rosettes with protruding moldings and a chin strap with brass buckles. Inner cap in black leather cut with five wolf teeth modeled on the caps of spiked helmets. Inside the visor is welded an oval white metal patch bearing the manufacturer's name "J. G. LIEB BIBERACH".

Alsace-Lorraine (in German Elsaß-Lothringen) is the territory ceded by France to the German Empire in application of the Treaty of Frankfurt, signed on May 10, 1871 after the French defeat.
The political entity, which was commonly called Alsace-Lorraine and bore the official name of Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen, corresponds to the current territory of Alsace-Moselle, that is to say the departments of Moselle, Bas -Rhine and Haut-Rhin.
