In the shape of a truncated oblique cone, carcass in strong cardboard covered with fine black cloth, cap and bourdalou in blackened patent cowhide. False chin strap made of a flat chain made up of circular copper rings, intertwined two by two, round brass rosettes stamped with a flaming bomb. On the circumference of the top of the headdress braid of fine gold in cul-de-dé, in the middle band of orange wool woven directly into the braid. On each side framing the ventilation eyelets, V-shaped chevron in gold braid and dark orange wool. Model 1885 plate in stamped and cut copper representing the arms and motto of Paris framed by a branch of laurel leaves on the right and oak leaves on the left joined by a knot, tricolor lacquered metal cockade. Visor in black patent leather waxed green inside with folded brass ring straddling the outer border. Inner headdress composed of a band in black waxed calfskin. The inside of the carcass bears the name of the manufacturer "Ais GODILLOT / Paris". Size label in blue printed white paper "ALEXIS GODILLOT 4 1/2".
