GENDARMERIE CARBINE, model 1857, Second Empire. 25530

Eight-sided breech then round barrel, length 75.8 cm, length with the breech tang 81.2 cm, dated 1866, marked "MI", stamped "C" under a crown. Breech engraved "Mle 1857". All fittings in brass retained by iron springs as well as the brass butt plate. Butt plate numbered "21". Fittings stamped "L" under a star and "A". Percussion lock signed "Mre Impale de Châtellerault". Stock stamped "PICHON", "H" under a crown and with the acceptance stamp "MI 1866". Iron ramrod with nail head.
Total length of the weapon 1.150 meters.

In good condition, steel parts with oxidation to be cleaned, a 1x1 cm mark on the stock, along the barrel on one side wood partly discolored.
