OFFICER'S CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, 1854 model, Second Empire.
Gold star with five double-pointed rays, enamelled in white, topped with a crown. The star is surrounded by oak and laurel leaves enamelled in pale green.
Obverse center in gold representing the profile of the crowned head of the Emperor against a radiant sun background, facing left, surrounded by a circle of blue enamel with the inscription in gold letters: "NAPOLEON EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH".
Reverse center showing the Imperial Eagle, facing right, on a field of Azure, surrounded by a circle of blue enamel with the gold motto: "HONOR AND COUNTRY".
The star is topped with a crown, detached and topped with a small ball crossed by a smooth suspension ring, crowned with a small cross featuring eight fleurets and eight arches. Small green and blue enamels decorate the base of the crown.
The crown has a hook inside to be passed through the suspension ball of the easel located between the two upper branches of the cross.
Hallmark on the ribbon binding the laurel branches.
Scarlet ribbon for the knight's cross.
