Round silver medal, depicting on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel, surrounded by the legend "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR". On the reverse, inscription "CAMPAIGN OF ITALY - 1859" framing the names of the battles of "MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO". Surmounted by an imperial crown. Height 2 cm, width 1.3 cm.

Silk ribbon alternating 6 vertical red stripes and 5 vertical white stripes, bordered by a white edging. Width 1.2 cm.
