INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1860, Second Empire. 25165
Gilt bronze hilt. Guard decorated with an N under an imperial crown placed on a radiant background with a sparkling Jupiter's thunderbolt. Hilt forming a relief-molded plate of the Grand Imperial Arms, quillon decorated with a palmette, rear hilt bearing the raised inscription "IMPERIAL GUARD" placed on a branch of oak and laurel, it is foldable. Pommel decorated with the imperial eagle with spread wings. Horn grip, brass filigree. Stout triangular blade, white, engraved at the ricasso "Mre Impale de Châtt/o de la garde/mle 1860", length 81 cm. Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with two brass fittings decorated with lines.
