Made in white metal, depicting an array of weapons, a breastplate, a helmet, an anchor, and flags representing the two armed forces of the time, the Army and the Navy. A ribbon at the base of the decoration bears the inscription "Oublier ...Jamais" (Forget ...Never).
Ribbon in the national colors of blue-white-red, with black and green vertical stripes at the ends. Clasp with the dates of the Franco-Prussian War "1870-1871".
