Gilt bronze hilt, guard with three branches forming an openwork shell decorated with scrolls and beaded moldings, with the marine anchor in the center surmounted by the imperial crown. Cap with a long tail decorated with a fleuron, an acanthus leaf, and beaded moldings. Ferrule decorated with engraved flower moldings. Moulded horn handle. Straight flat blade, ribbed back, curved back edge, length 60.5 cm. Scarlet cloth tie. Black varnished leather scabbard with three gilt bronze fittings: upper fitting with suspension ring, scallop shell-shaped button for belt carry, cartridge decorated with a marine anchor surmounted by the imperial crown on a background of flag bundles, lower edge with twisted moldings; central scabbard fitting with suspension ring decorated with lines and twisted moldings; lower fitting with upper part decorated with twisted moldings and engraved foliage design, lower part decorated with a scallop shell; brass festooned sword.

Good condition, the brass parts have retained some of their gilding, horn handle and blade in very good condition, parts of the scabbard show signs of wear.
