FIRE CAP, or STEEL FIRE HELMET, July Monarchy - Third Republic. 23969
In tinned iron, covered with black varnish, consisting of a half-spherical cap and a straight headband. Riveted visor and neck cover. Brass crest, fins stamped with twelve gadroons in relief, base of the mask in the shape of a heart with flaming bomb. Brass front plate stamped with a flaming bomb surmounting two crossed axes linked together by a ribbon with a fire in the lower part, all framed by a banner bearing the inscription “Srs POMPIERS DE LUX”. Chinstraps composed of scale-stamped brass chin straps, and each of an independent round-shaped rosette struck in relief with gadroons, attached to the bomb by brass tabs. Interior cover in brown leather topped with a canvas cover.

Good condition, the four screws securing the crest to the bomb were replaced later.
NOTE :
These helmets appeared under the July Monarchy, they were still presented in suppliers' catalogs in the 1900s.
