PAIR OF EPAULETS OF LIEUTENANT-GENERAL PIERRE CÉSAR GUDIN, July Monarchy. 23382/018

PAIR OF EPAULETS OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL PIERRE CÉSAR GUDIN, July Monarchy. 23382/018

They are embroidered in a pattern of twisted cords and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a design depicting a V-shaped braid edged with a scalloped frame on a fine black cloth; its shield is decorated with a scalloped-bordered shield, adorned with three silver stars. The fringes are made of large matte cords. The edges consist of three twists: a large one in matte and shiny spun cord alternately rolled on a cotton core; a second, inner twist, in small matte Milanese twisted cord, mixed with another simple shiny one; a third, of the same work, is applied below the large one, at the start of the fringe. 1830 uniform button (half-domed, gold and matte brass, embossed relief of a trophy formed by flags and a shield stamped with a rooster and topped with a helmet), fixed at the top of the epaulet body; a strong brass clip (this clip fits into a small pocket sewn onto the uniform). The epaulets are lined with dark blue cloth, and at the fringe level, with yellow dyed calf leather. One of the epaulets is adorned with a double cord of golden braid for holding the Grand Officer cord of the Legion of Honor.
