Housse en toile beige, L 2,20 m, l 84 cm, de forme rectangulaire marquée avec des cachets encre noire du 4ième trimestre 1862 «4.62 », d'un grand marquage à encre noire « CAMPEMENT » daté « 1858 ».

Bon état. Toile en très bon état, couture sur une des deux longueurs décousue, quelques usures.

NOTE :
De tous les effets et équipements militaires, la housse de matelas aujourd'hui présentée est probablement l'objet le plus rare jamais rencontré. Cette housse faisait partie du paquetage de l'homme de troupe. Le soir venu, il la garnissait de paille, lui permettant ainsi de s'assurer un couchage assez confortable.
