Brass hilt. Single-branch guard. Long-tailed pommel. Black waxed shagreen-wrapped wooden handle, guard branch stamped with the rooster mark (a stamp used for revolutionary productions starting from 1793). Curved blade with hollowed facets, length 81 cm, back signed "KLINGENTHAL," stamped at the base in two illegible spots. One side of the blade is engraved with "Répe" and the other with "Franse." Scarlet cloth knot. Black waxed leather-wrapped wooden scabbard with two large brass fittings, steel tip, and belt rings.
France.
Modern reproduction based on the Revolutionary model.
Very good condition, modern reproduction characterized by artificial oxidation of brass parts; poorly stamped rooster mark on the guard branch; modern blade engravings; modern scabbard leather, easily marked with a fingernail press; artificially worn brass fittings; clips securing each fitting are too wide; steel tip lacking thickness at the end.
This type of reproduction is typical of present-day productions found in Eastern and Middle Eastern countries.
