OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE CHASSEURS DE VINCENNES, model 1838, later became Chasseurs d'Orléans in 1842, Second Empire.
Brass hilt with intricate engraving, shell guard adorned with oak and laurel branches crossing over a bundle of 4 flags. Cap with a long tail decorated with foliage, horn handle. Straight blade with grooves and central fuller, length 80.2 cm. Brown leather sword knot.

Fair condition, missing the wire wrapping on the handle, oxidized blade, missing scabbard.
NOTE:
The Chasseurs de Vincennes were an experimental unit established in 1837. They were renamed Chasseurs d'Orléans in 1842.
