INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, model 1855, Third Republic.
Brass hilt closely resembling the 1845 model with a narrower decoration, featuring three branches forming a shell adorned with an oak branch and laurel branch on a background of a bundle of flags. Cap with a short tail decorated with an oak branch, laurel, and a palmette. Horn handle with copper filigree. Natural leather knot. Straight blade with nickel-plated fullers, length 93 cm, signed at the base "Manufacture Française Armes et Cycles à St Etienne." Steel scabbard with a single suspension ring strap.
