Croix en or à huit pointes pommetées, branches émaillées blanc avec réserve ciselée de flammes émaillées vert, centres en deux parties représentant l’archange Michel, émaillé blanc, bleu et vert, terrassant un dragon au corps émaillé bleu foncé, aux ailes émaillées vert foncé crachant flammes et fumée, cette représentation est ajourée sur fond bruni.
Bélière ciselée en feuilles d’acanthe, anneau cannelé, diamètre 16 mm.
54 x 48 mm, poids brut : 39 g

HISTORIQUE :
L'Ordre de Saint-Michel fondé en 1469 est le plus ancien Ordre de chevalerie du royaume de France. Cet ordre fut supplanté par la création de l’Ordre du Saint-Esprit en 1578. Il devint progressivement au cours des siècles suivants la distinction suprême des mérites civils, récompensant en particulier les scientifiques et les artistes. Il ne fut plus attribué après la chute de Charles X.
