SWORD AND DRESS BELT OF THE OFFICER OF THE HARAS, July Monarchy - Second Empire.
Gilded bronze hilt with elaborate chiselled design. Guard branch decorated with oak leaves, keyboard with a relief horse head within a crown of oak leaves framed by wheat ears. Pommel decorated with winged Jupiter spindles. Grey shagreen-covered wood grip, silver filigree. Gilded brass ferrules decorated with fleurons and oak leaves. Folding counter guard. Double-edged blade, length 82.2 cm. Scarlet wool sword knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with two gilded brass fittings. Separated chape and locket from the leather of the scabbard.
Dark green waxed morocco belt, entirely covered with a silver galloon with three black silk piping, width 4.5 cm. At the front, belt buckle composed of two oval-shaped silvered copper plates (H 4.5 cm, width 4 cm), decorated in the center with a horse head within a moulded oak leaf border; on the outer sides, the buckles form a ring for the belt to pass through; on their inner side, a small ring allows the passage of an S-shaped hook decorated with a serpent head.
Sword hanger similarly finished as the belt and attached to it by two silvered metal rings with loops attached to a strap sewn at the back of the belt.

Sword in very good condition, blade with usual oxidation; hilt retaining all its gilding, leather shortened by 2 cm under the chape. Belt and sword hanger in good condition with usual oxidation on the trims.
