FRENCH SABERS 1830 - 1870 FROM COQ TO THE EAGLE - VOLUME 1. Jean ONDRY. 27898-4
With this third book, 1st volume on French sabers from the period 1830-1870, Jean ONDRY continues to provide the many collectors of this theme with a clear and chronological presentation of the sabers of the previous models still in use, of the new regulatory or fancy models manufactured . Compared to the previous period 1814-1830, it is a period rich in military events during which the saber will still be widely used. There will therefore be a significant production allowing collectors to acquire beautiful pieces at more affordable prices. As before, he bases his work on official documentation available from the Defense Historical Service of Châtellerault. He supplements it, when possible, with iconographic documents and period photos of soldiers, from private collections. Finally, thanks to numerous wide or close-up photos, sabers from his collection or collections of friends are presented in order to facilitate their identification. The symbolism of the regimes will take us from the rooster of Louis-Philippe to the eagle of Napoleon III.
