This letter is addressed to Count François ODOARD, Major of the King's National Guard, Paris on May 19, 1817 concerning the making of a flag:
"... I think it would be a waste of time to have our flag made in Rouen, which would probably be more expensive and more poorly made, the man responsible here for making them, and who has all the models from the General Staff of Sir, came to me to take my orders on this subject, ... ".

Versainville Castle is located in Calvados (Normandy), near Falaise, about thirty kilometers south-east of Caen. François-Gaston, known as “Count Odoard du Hazey” and “Marquis de Versainville”7 (October 21, 1833 in Marbeuf – January 3, 1921), former cavalry captain, knight of the Legion of Honor.
