INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABER, model 1855, Third Republic.
Brass hilt similar to the 1845 model with narrower decoration, featuring three branches forming a shell adorned with an oak branch and a laurel branch on a background of a bundle of flags. Cap with a long tail decorated with an oak branch, laurel branch, and a palmette. Blade silk broken at its end, about 5 mm, not reaching the cap, the guard branch stuck to it. Horn handle with filigree. Natural leather knot. Slightly curved blade with hollow flutes, the spine engraved with "Master of weapons Chât 8bre 1876 Infantry Adjutant Mle 1845", length 77.5 cm. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
