L’infanterie de Ligne subira tous les chocs des dernières années de l’Empire, de la campagne de France à Waterloo, avant de, radicalement, changer de visage en 1815, lors de la seconde Restauration.
En effet, momentanément, les régiments d’infanterie disparaissent au profit des légions départementales avant de revêtir cet uniforme dont les couleurs ne changent plus avant la Grande Guerre ; le bleu et le garance…
Cet ouvrage – compilation des deux dossiers publiés dans les numéros 17 et 18 de la revue SOLDAT est absolument inédit en France. Les quelques 120 planches dessinées par André Jouineau et commentées par Jean-Marie Mongin présentent les soldats de l’infanterie présente en Espagne et ceux de la conquête de l’Algérie.
