Exceptional military file of Officer Louis Jallason of the 25th Light Infantry Regiment:
1806: Correspondence from the Military School of Fontainebleau (Imperial Special Military School): School's response to Madame de Menou, officer's mother, regarding his enrollment, and letter from L. Jasselon to his mother during his integration at the School "Madame Jallasson, 20 rue des Mauvaises Paroles, Paris" (Rue des Mauvaises-Paroles was a former street in Paris, disappeared in 1853 during the construction of Rue de Rivoli. It was located in the former 4th arrondissement). Some letters with addresses and postal marks. Fair condition, water damage, some tears.
Spanish War, Louis Jallasson is taken prisoner:
Letter from the Inspector of Revues, head of the 2nd division of the Ministry of War, to Mr. Jallasson father informing, "Mr. Jallasson, your son, a lieutenant in the 25th Light Infantry Regiment, has been taken prisoner in Spain. I have the honor to greet you. Signed: Tabarié."
(Michel Marie Étienne Victor Tabarié, Viscount, born in Montpellier on June 6, 1768, died in Montfort-l'Amaury on July 30, 1839, was a French politician. Under-Secretary of State for the War Department from May 9, 1816, to September 17, 1817, in the government of Armand du Plessis de Richelieu). Good condition, water damage.
Correspondence dated October 26, 18113 gives the list of prisoners including "Louis Jallasson taken prisoner in July 1811, held at the castle of Iviza, Balearic Islands, informs his mother that General Copona, commander-in-chief of the Spanish Army in Catalonia, visited the prisoners' camp in Iviza to inquire if any of them could arrange in Paris the necessary steps to exchange three of his nephews who are prisoners of war in France. These prisoners are: Antoine Ozell, François Ozell, captains, Jean-Ignace Orell, lieutenant, held in Autun (Saône-et-Loire). General Copona would exchange them for Mr. Pierre Marino or Marine, head of the bureau in the service of Italy, Auguste Doulceros, Captain of the 115th Line, Louis Jallasson, Lieutenant of the 25th Light Infantry, all three held at the castle of Iviza. The original letter written by L. Jallasson can be attached to this letter if necessary." Fair condition, water damage.
3 significant handwritten notebooks (72, 36, and 18 pages, 23 x 17.5 cm) containing copies of letters sent to his relatives between 1806 and 1814:
- 1st notebook: College - Military School - Campaign in Germany
- 2nd notebook: Campaign in Spain and Portugal
- 3rd notebook: Prisons in Alicante, Majorca, and Minorca. Very good condition, beautiful handwriting.
Letter from the Ministry of War, with a beautiful vignette "In the Name of His Majesty the Emperor": "The Minister of War orders Mr. Jallasson, Lieutenant, to proceed immediately to Strasbourg to join the Tenth Light Infantry Regiment, where he will remain on standby, awaiting a vacant position of his rank. He will receive his active duty pay. Paris, April 8, 1815. Signed: "On behalf of the Minister and by his order: The Major-General Secretary-General." Good condition, water damage.
11 letters from relatives addressed to the parents of Louis Jasselon, from Madame Jallasson (nee de Menou) to her son Louis Jallasson. Poor to fair condition, water damage, tears.
