SAILOR'S SABER FROM THE PORTS, First Empire (1804-1815).
Saber entirely made of brass with a leather scabbard, following the model of the Corps of Sailors of the Guard created in 1804 by the armorer DUC. Guard with one hollow branch (H 14.5 cm without quillon), outer ear shaped like a shield (H 5.5 cm) engraved with an anchor on each side, the guard branch ends in a ball quillon. The knuckle bow is hollow underneath. Pommel with a short tang (H 8.5 cm) intricately carved with foliage. Wooden handle covered in leather, wrapped in braided brass wire. Klingenthal blade measuring 73.2 cm in length, 4 cm wide at the base, and approximately 8 cm in width, with a back thickness at the base of about 0.7 cm, featuring a strong pointed bevel. Black varnished leather scabbard, with three brass fittings with scalloped edges, chape, central bracelet, brass rings. Brass pins on the belaying rings.

Good condition. Blade shows signs of oxidation from use. Missing the drag.
