Polished pink brass frame, guard with three branches forming a shell at the front, with cap cover, decorated at the front with the Arms of France framed by a grenade on each side. Long tail cap, brass ferrule holding a natural leather thumb rest. Wooden handle covered in black waxed leather and a simple brass filigree.
Flat, straight blade, engraved on each side with the inscription “REGIMENT DES CARABINIERS”, length 96 cm.
Without sheath.
In 1792 the decoration of the shell was removed from the fleur-de-lys and the royal crown, the motto initially engraved on the blade “VIVAT REGUM CARISIMUS REGIMENT DES CARABINIERS DE MONSIEUR” was also modified.
Very good condition, usual oxidation on the blade, some dents and shock on the frame.
