Garde en laiton à trois branches. Calotte à courte queue. Poignée en bois gainé de veau et d'un filigrane torsadé de laiton. Lame courbe à pans creux, dos gravé « US / AMES / MFG CO /
J.H. / CHICOPEE — 1857 / MASS », longueur 90,5 cm. Cravate en cuir naturel. Fourreau en acier à deux bracelets de bélière.

NOTES :
Ce modèle de sabre est directement inspiré du sabre français pour la cavalerie légère, modèle 1822, ce modèle de sabre est le plus répandu dans la cavalerie américaine durant le guerre de Sécession de 1861 à 1865, plus encore que le sabre modèle 1860. Produit en 1858, cet exemplaire a donc été utilisé durant ce conflit.
