Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès or Abbé Sieyès (the old pronunciation was, born May 3, 1748 in Fréjus and died June 20, 1836 in Paris, is a French man of the Church, politician and essayist, best known for his writings and his action during the French Revolution. Director, he was, at the start of the Consulate, provisional consul. He was then president of the conservative Senate and count of the Empire.
