KING'S BODYGUARD SABER, MODEL 1816, RESTORATION PERIOD.
Golden brass guard, with four branches forming a shell decorated with the coat of arms of France under a royal crown, set against a background of flags and branches of oak and laurel. Long-tailed pommel. Handle made of wood covered with silver filigree shagreen. Plate stamped "VERSAILLES," with the "B" under the star of Inspector Borson from August 1814 to September 1816 at the Klingenthal Manufacture and likely the hallmark of Bick, 1st class controller from 1815 to 1824, the "B" surrounded by a laurel wreath.
Hollow-ground blade engraved with a display of arms, two fleur-de-lis, and the inscription "KING'S BODYGUARD" on one side, and on the other side, a display of arms, the arms of France, and a radiant sun with a face. Spine engraved with "Royal Manufacture of Klingenthal August 1814." It bears the stamps of Inspector Borson from August 1814 to September 1816 at the Klingenthal Manufacture, a "B" under a star, and of Bick, 1st class controller from 1812 to May 1815, "B" within a wreath of laurel leaves.

Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings and a brass cup at the entrance of the scabbard molded with foliage.
In good condition, the mount has lost some of its gilding on the branches and pommel, the shagreen and filigree of the handle are in perfect condition, the blade is in near-new condition with beautiful engravings and inscriptions, the scabbard is in good condition with some dings and oxidation.
