HORSE CHASSEUR'S SABRE, MODEL 1790, REVOLUTION.
Brass hilt. Guard with three N-shaped branches known as "demi-panier." Cap with a short tail. Square-section handle made of wood covered with black waxed calf leather filigreed in brass. Acceptance mark for hilts at the "coq" (stamp for Revolutionary productions from 1793). Curved blade with hollow sides, length 91 cm, width at the heel 4 cm, thickness 1 cm, stamped with the fasces of lictors. Black waxed cow leather scabbard with three iron fittings with scalloped edges. The quillon measures 29 cm, the bracelet 5.5 cm, and the chape 11 cm. Iron suspension rings with brass stud.
Total length 1.95 m.
Saber most likely manufactured in Parisian workshops.
