MUSKETEER SWORD WITH BLADE SIGNED "GUYON THE ELDER, TO THE KING OF CHINA...", ANCIENT MONARCHY, reign of Louis XV, circa 1750 (pre-regulation 1767).
Silver-toned metal hilt in the musketeer style. Two-shell guard. Ringed knuckle bow. Fully filigreed wooden grip. Netted ferrules. Triangular blade, shortened to 70 cm in length, fully engraved with floral motifs and a war goddess, signed at the base "GUYON THE ELDER, TO THE KING OF CHINA ON THE PONT ST MICHEL IN PARIS." The reverse side is also entirely engraved with military trophies, floral motifs, a seated cherub above the motto "Safe travels." The background of the blade decorations is entirely gilded. Without scabbard.
