Joseph Nicolas Jouy belonged to the artistic style of the French School. He was mainly active during the Classic period. In the exercise of his art, Joseph Nicolas Jouy mainly practiced the artistic techniques of oils on canvas. He is particularly known for the following works: Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, Marshal of the Empire, King of Sweden in 1818 (1764-1844), depicted in 1804, Emperor Napoleon I on the battlefield of Heilsberg, the 11 June 1807, Madame de Nonjon and her two daughters... Which are all illustrations of her favorite subjects: great battles, history, portrait. Many of his works can be found at the Palace of Versailles and Trianon.
