HUNTING DAGGER, FIRST EMPIRE.
Handle in checkered ebony. Brass pommel with relief grooves called "melon ribs." Brass ferrule. Gilded brass crossguard. Gilded brass scabbard cover decorated with a laurel branch. Two-sided blade with a central groove, 42 cm long, engraved on its first half with military trophies and golden floral decorations on a blue background. Wooden scabbard covered in black varnished leather with two gilded brass fittings with scalloped edges.
Fair condition, most of the gilding missing, blade needs cleaning, scabbard leather damaged. France. First Empire.
