KING'S BODYGUARD SWORD, 1816 MODEL, RESTORATION PERIOD.
Gilded brass guard with four branches forming a shell decorated with the arms of France under a royal crown and on a background of flags and branches of oak and laurel. Cap with a long tail. Wooden handle covered with filigreed silver shagreen. Guard stamped with the "B" under the star of Inspector Borson August 1814 - September 1816 from the Klingenthal Manufacture and probably the stamp of Bick, first-class controller from 1815 - 1824, "B" under a star surrounded by a crown of rings.
Hollow-ground blade engraved with a trophy of arms, two fleurs-de-lis, and the inscription "KING'S BODYGUARD" on one side, and, on the other side, with a trophy of arms, the arms of France, and a radiant sun with a face. Spine engraved with "Royal Manufacture of Klingenthal January 1815." Stamped with the marks of Inspector Borson August 1814 - September 1816 from the Klingenthal Manufacture and Bick, first-class controller from 1812 - May 1815, "B" in a crown of oak leaves.

Without scabbard.
Good condition, the gilding on the hilt has worn off, the shagreen and silver filigree on the handle are in perfect condition, the blade is in a nearly new state with very beautiful engravings and inscriptions.
