BODYGUARD SABER OF THE KING, MODEL 1816, RESTORATION.
Guard made of gilded brass, with four branches forming a shell decorated with the arms of France under a royal crown, set against a background of flags, oak branches, and laurel. Cap with a long tail. Handle made of wood covered with filigree silver shagreen. Guard is stamped with the "B" under the star of the inspector Borson from August 1814 - September 1816 from the Klingenthal Manufacture and probably the stamp of Bick, first class controller from 1815 - 1824, "B" under a star surrounded by a crown of rings.
Blade with engraved hollow sides depicting a trophy of arms, two fleur-de-lis, and the inscription "BODYGUARDS OF THE KING" on one side, and on the other side, a trophy of arms and the arms of France with the radiant sun face. Spine engraved with Manufacture Royale de Klingenthal, January 1815. It bears the stamps of the inspector Borson from August 1814 - September 1816 from Klingenthal Manufacture and Bick, first-class controller from 1812 - May 1815, "B" in an oak leaf crown. Length 92.2 cm.
Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings and a brass molded foliage cup at the scabbard entrance. Missing the cup screw.
In good condition, the gilding of the hilt is worn off, the shagreen and the filigree of the handle are in perfect condition, the blade is in nearly new condition with very beautiful engravings and inscriptions, the scabbard is in good condition with some dents.
