FRENCH SCHOOL OF THE 19TH CENTURY, PASTEL REPRESENTING THE BUST PORTRAIT OF A CAMP MARSHAL, Restoration. 14242
Major general represented in large dark blue uniform with gold trimmings embroidery. On his chest he wears the officer's star of the Legion of Honor and the cross of Saint Louis. H 63 cm, width 48 cm. Presented under glass in an old gilded frame, H 72 cm, width 58 cm.
Pastel in poor state of conservation: if the character does not have any missing or accident, the background has some missing in the upper part and on its left as evidenced by the photographs. Frame in fairly good condition.
France.
Restoration.
NOTE:
The title of brigadier general is used in place of major general under the Restoration and the July Monarchy, just as the title of lieutenant general replaces that of division general. This title disappeared definitively in 1848.
