Gilt bronze hilt. Guard with six branches forming a shell (one main, four at the front, and one rear branch) richly decorated in relief with laurel leaves and finely engraved. On the front part, the shell is pierced with the Cross of the Musketeers, adorned with fleur-de-lis and a silver central part. Cap with a short tail, also richly decorated with oak and laurel branches, and the Cross of the Musketeers. Handle in wood covered with black waxed calf skin and filigreed.
Straight blade with double hollow ground engraved with a cartouche with floral decorations and in the center the Musketeers' Cross. At the base, a cartouche signed "DUC armorer of the king's house rue S. honoré n° 251". The back of the blade is signed "Frères Weyersberg à Solingen". All these decorations and cartouches are gilt with a blued background. Blade length 92 cm, width at the base 2.7 cm, thickness 8 mm. Black varnished leather scabbard with three gilt bronze fittings framed with relief engraved foliage. Scabbard tip with a steel dart shaped like an olive.
Condition close to new, high-quality gilding.

This saber model is of great rarity. It was often copied at the end of the 19th century. This specimen is one of the rare originals that have come down to us with its original first model leather scabbard.
