EMBROIDERED DESIGN FOR THE DRESS WAISTCOAT FRONT PIECE OF THE ESCADRON DES CENT-GARDES OF EMPEROR NAPOLEON III, SECOND EMPIRE.
Exquisitely crafted design featuring the grand imperial arms (gilded stamped brass, crimson velvet, gilded and dark blue enamel silver plate, gold braid, threads, bullion, gold sequins). This design depicts the imperial eagle surrounded by the grand collar of the Legion of Honor placed on an imperial mantle with scattered bees topped by the imperial crown. The motif measures 19.5 cm in height and 14 cm in width.
Attached at the bottom is a very rare pompom for the bicorne hat of the Escadron des Cent-Gardes in amaranth and gold trimmings.
Presented on a wooden plaque covered with burgundy velvet.
In very good condition, of high quality with slight oxidation on the metallic trimmings.
