SHAKO GRENADIER TROOP OF THE NATIONAL GUARD MODEL 1848, SECOND REPUBLIC.
Made of cardboard covered with taupe felt (worn), H 16.5 cm, bordered at the top with a 3 cm wide scarlet braid, and at the bottom with a 3 cm high black velvet tape.
Black leather visor.
Tricolor metal cockade, diameter 6 cm.
Front plate in copper plated with silver and embossed with a rooster standing on a globe and fasces of flags with the inscription FRENCH REPUBLIC. Height of the plate 12.5 cm, width 10.5 cm.
Jugulars composed of two chinstraps made of leather covered with black velvet and topped with a silver-plated embossed copper plate in a decreasing series of scalloped scales; each chinstrap is fixed to the shako by a round rosette stamped with a flaming grenade, made of silver-plated copper with a double tab fixed at the back that folds inside the shako.
Missing the pompon.
Interior lining in black waxed sheepskin topped with disassembled black silk.
