INFANTRY OFFICER'S SABER OF THE CHASSEURS DE VINCENNES, model 1838, July Monarchy
Brass hilt finely engraved, guard with a single branch forming a shell enriched with oak and laurel branches overlapping a bundle of 4 flags; at the upper part, the guard is pierced for the passage of the sword knot. Cap with a long tail decorated with foliage, filigreed horn handle with gilded brass. Curved blade with a rib, length 76.2 cm, signed on the back "Coulaux ainé & Cie à Klingenthal". Scarlet cloth knot.
Black polished leather scabbard with three gilded brass fittings, chape stamped "Rouart A PARIS".
In very good condition, the hilt retains all its gilding, blade not rusted, scabbard scales with the rear part partly restored and varnished, fittings with faded gilding.
