Monture en laiton. Garde à quatre branches formant coquille avec à l'avant deux branches de laurier formant un cercle au centre duquel est riveté un soleil rayonnant en métal argenté (diamètre 6,4 cm) sur lequel sont rapportées les grandes Armes Impériales en laiton fondu (diamètre 5,9 cm). Calotte à courte queue décorée d'un fleuron et de deux branches de laurier. Poignée en corne filigranée.
Lame droite à un pan creux (longueur 95 cm, largeur au talon 2,9 cm, épaisseur 0,9 cm), le dos est signé « Manufacture Impériale de Châtellerault novembre 1858 ». Reste de cravate en buffle ocre.
Fourreau droit entièrement en acier à deux bracelets de bélière et anneaux d'acier eux-aussi.
