Manchon en astrakan noir. H à l'avant 19,5 cm, H à l'arrière 23 cm. Diamètre supérieur : 15 cm. Trois platines à crochet en laiton uni permettent d’assujettir la jugulaire en position haute ou basse. Arrière du talpack muni d'une ventouse à crochet en partie supérieure, le cordon de talpack ayant été supprimé le 17 janvier 1860.

Ttalpack muni d’un pompon de forme ovale en bois recouvert d'un cordonnet écarlate (H 6,2 cm, largeur 4,2 cm, épaisseur 2,4 cm), manque la flamme. Plumet non du modèle en plumes écarlates à sommet jonquille (voltigeurs de la Garde).

Coiffe en basane taillée en neuf dents de loup. Carcasse en carton. Étiquette ovale imprimée noir sur fond blanc, collée au fond de la calotte imprimée « BAUDOIN FRÈRES FABt à Paris 51/2 ».
